Ad Kuintum Station

Elbasan

Description:

The “Ad quintum” station or (fifth station) is known as the Egnatia street station, located in Bradashesh village, is a cultural monument.

This spa otherwise known as the hammam is built along the Egnatia road to serve citizens as a mutation, a resting place.

There is a rectangular planimeter with a surface of 130m2 with these facilities: dressing rooms, warm environment, hot surroundings, and cold water. Inside was the dressing room that served to connect the environments. Hamam’s walls are built of mixed masonry. The water supply was channeled from a deposit on the wall of the nipple and left with another sewer system. ”

The bathrooms of this station have a rational planimetric and aesthetic solution. This hammam was built at the end of the 2nd century AD. In this spa there were staff who served for massage, for cleaning the helpless, for maintenance, for the fire of purity. During the second half of the twentieth century during the communist regime these baths were closed, and in the last years of the twentieth century, those who stayed in time were preserved as historical objects and cultural monuments. Around these baths, in the village of Bradashesh, many houses were built, creating a neighborhood named “Egnatia Road Station”.

Already these baths have almost disappeared and there are only the walls and the strong stones surrounding the baths.
